Probate

Other Jurisdictions

Many people own vacation properties and other real estate outside Maine. In the case of a decedent who owned non-Maine real estate or interests in partnerships that operate businesses outside Maine or who worked out of an office located in another state, it may be necessary to conduct separate probate proceedings to settle the decedent’s affairs in the other jurisdiction as well as in Maine. We can usually suggest a lawyer in the other jurisdiction to assist in that effort.
